Why Windows 7 PC and Laptop Users Should Update

If you re a traditional PC or laptop user that is now contemplating on leaving Windows 7 behind for the brand new Windows 8, then I guess you re probably thinking, Should I really update now?

 Along with the new OS comes a jam-packed full of new features tailored to fit the needs of the modern era where touch is a selling point.

 Windows 8 has that, but the PC or laptop user can still find himself in a familiar and more friendly territory.

 Here are some reasons why.:
**For one, there are only 2 versions Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro.
 During 7 s reign, we have Home Edition, Professional Edition, Premium this, Premium that. You get the idea. Now, it s just two. Forget RT since it won t work on the desktop.

Another reason to update to Windows 8 is that it is faster in everything. It boots up pretty quickly and resumes instantly.
 It s faster because the system is leaner. This is actually basic when it comes to operating systems.

 8 is faster than 7.  7 is faster than the ill-fated Vista. XP is a lot better than ME (Remember Windows ME?)

And oh, who would even say that the UI is ugly? I bet none. The visual design of Windows 8 for the end-user is visually appealing and very attractive to the eyes. No longer do we have to stare at a monitor where everything is on the left. No longer do we need the Start Button to find what we are looking for.

 Oh, Windows 8 gives you the option to revert to the classic desktop style if you really can t stand the modern UI, just to be safe.

There are plenty of other exciting features. Let s check them out one by one:
A sassy new Internet Explorer 10
Now this is a no brainer in the corporate world where Windows is king. No matter what company I am with, at least those that run in a traditional way, they only want Internet Explorer on their properties. With Internet Explorer 10, no longer do office employees suffer from the claws of IE7 or 8 (9 is pretty good if you ask me.) IE10 is a modern browser that is set up to stand against the geek choices Chrome and Firefox. And it s actually pretty cool. Check out the test drive in the IE10 developer site.

Robust Security and Painless Recovery
Viruses are always a problem for Windows. I m sure this is where Apple s OS X is king. But Windows 8 will be at that bar.
 Windows Defender will be your first line of defense. If all else fails, there s system recovery which is now just a push button reset away. Your PC will be back to a certain date, or even in factory settings in a matter of minutes without the risk of losing data. How cool is that?

I swear you all have heard about the modern UI, the touch-based apps. But that s not going to matter on a traditional PC or laptop that s why I did not delve into that.
